EcoLum Aluminium

Typical Percentage of sign:

75

Typical Recyclable Content:

100

Why we use EcoLum Aluminium:

We as a company are passionate about helping the environment, and we have committed to using EcoLum low-carbon aluminium in the branding and display products we design and manufacture.

EcoLum aluminium is produced with less than 4.0 metric tonnes of CO2e for every tonne of metal produced, including both direct and indirect (scope 1 and 2) emissions across the entire production chain.

This performance is approximately x3.5 times better than the industry average.

Key Benefits of EcoLum Aluminium:

  • Low Carbon emissions.
  • Verified according to ISO 14025, and life cycle analysis per ISO 14044.
  • Smelters powered with hydro-electric generation.
  • Responsible and sustainable mining.

FOR A CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Acrylic

Typical Percentage of sign:

20

Typical Recyclable Content:

100

Why we use Acrylic in our Signs:

Acrylic is recyclable, you can re-use acrylic by cutting larger sheets into small pieces and forming them into other products, however this was not possible in Ireland for many years.

A key objective of Gaelite’s sustainability program over the last number of years has been the recycling of our acrylic waste and our determination has finally paid off as there is now a viable market for the recycling companies in Ireland.

What type of Acrylic we use:

The Acrylics we use are 100% recyclable, off-cuts from either cast or extruded sheets can be reprocessed without causing any special environmental problems.

This can be done through a number of possible recycling methods are: Waste can be ground and then re-used through injection or extrusion. Waste can be subjected to a ‘cracking’ process, this allows recovery of the original monomer.

WHAT IT BECOMES:

LED Lighting

Typical Percentage of sign:

5

Typical Recyclable Content:

93

Why we use LED LIGHTING
in our Signs:

LED is much more efficient than incandescent bulbs or gas discharge lamps. LEDs have a longer lifespan, therefore reduce the frequency of disposal of lamps. LEDs are energy-efficient and eco-friendly too. With these characteristics, LED products are not toxic and can be recycled.

What type of LED LIGHTING
we use:

The LED’s that we use consume 80%-90% less energy than incandescent and halogen lights. Lifespan for LED lighting is usually between 15,000hours and 50,000 hours, that’s a minimum of 2 to 10+ years. Traditional lights need to warm up in order to come on, this is not the case with LEDs, they come on immediately and at 100% full strength.

STEEL

Typical Percentage of sign:

75

Typical Recyclable Content:

100

Why we use steel in our signs:

We use structural steel in our larger Totem type signs, we use steel for its rigidity but it also gives the additional benefit of having a an extremely long life and is 100% recyclable. Within our manufacturing facility we can recycle every steel waste stream from cutting offcuts to the swarf generated from the drilling of holes.

What type of STEEL we use:

As steel does not degrade during the recycling process the means the steel we use is on average made 93% recycled material.

WHAT IT BECOMES:

From gearbox to engine, steel is used throughout the car manufacturing process.

VINYL

Typical Percentage of sign:

7

Typical Recyclable Content:

100

Why we use VINYL in our Signs:

We use vinyl film in our signs as it a very durable and versatile material that provides an extremely long life for our signs.

What type of VINYL we use:

We use only vinyl material manufactured by companies that have good records of environmental stewardship such as 3M and as such we are an approved 3M supplier.

Low carbon footprint

ACM

Typical Percentage of sign:

40

Typical Recyclable Content:

100

Why we use ACM in our Signs:

Using aluminium composite panels which are long and withstanding in harsh climatic conditions make it durable, a good choice for harsh climates and a step towards sustainable design and environment friendly living.

What type of ACM we use:

The Aluminium Composite Panels comprises of recycled materials such as aluminium, polymer and few minerals. Choosing Aluminium Composite Panels is choosing sustainability as it is 100% recyclable and retains all its qualities throughout the process of its making.
